The Original Vein Doctor... Dr. Sandy Greenberg

Dr. Sanford Greenberg has been a practicing physician for over 30 years.He graduated from the University of Missouri of Medicine and was a Board Certified in Emergency Medicine; he practiced as an emergency physician for 18 years.  His emergency medicine career culminated in his becoming The Director of Emergency Physician at Barnes-St. Peters Hospital for his final 8 years as an emergency physician.

In 1991, he became fascinated by the study of Phlebology (vein medicine), and studied under Pauline Raymond Martimbeau whom he considers the most skilled vein physician in the world.

He eventually became one of the earliest physicians to perform a proprietary process called EVLT procedure (Endrovenous Laser Therapy).He then joined as an owner one of the largest vein practices in the country (The Vein Center) in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Greenberg is Board Certified in Phlebology (The study of veins) and has trained other physicians from all over the country on the EVLT procedure for Diomed and Angiodynamics Laser Companies.  He has also trained physicians from both the Mayo and Scripps Clinics on this same procedure. 

In 2000, he came to California to start his current practice, The Vein Doctor Medical Group, in Palm Desert. To date, Dr. Greenberg’s vein practice has performed over 11,000 EVLT procedures, and 2million sclerotherapy vein.
His reputation is based on excellent service and results, and he has been dubbed by some of his patients, the “Michelangelo of Veins.”

As a pioneer in different procedures, The Vein Doctor Medical Group was the first to offer the EVLT procedure to the Coachella Valley, the “Smart Lipo” procedure, and just recently, the newest technology in skin tightening, Pelleve.  The practice also was the first to offer intense pulsed light treatments of the face and the body.

Dr. Greenberg is also a charitable man, who has donated free services to people in need, and non profit organizations in the Coachella Valley, including, Child Help, Go Red  for Women, and Scars to Freedom (for which he is on the Board of Directors).

His greatest joy is fathering his 3 children, and he has been the camp physician at Camp Thunderbird in Bemidji, Minnesota during the summer sessions for the past six years.
