Vein Doctor Medical Group
At one time there was no alternative to surgery in the treatment of varicose and spider veins. However, since the 1920's, a non-surgical procedure called sclerotherapy has been used in Europe. Sclerotherapy involves injecting medication into a diseased, dilated vein to induce a reaction in the vein wall. Sclerosis, or hardening of the vein results, preventing blood from flowing through it. Blood is then re-routed through the healthy superficial and deep venous systems, and eventually the treated veins disappear.

Our physicians use Duplex ultrasound to show them where incompetent valves, or perforators lie. Treating these first, before performing sclerotherapy with the naked eye, allows the physicians to remove the cause of the problem, preventing new varicose or spider veins from forming, and also helping to avoid recurrence.

Sanford J. Greenberg, M.D. has specialized in sclerotherapy since 1992. He has treated thousands of patients, thereby perfecting his technique which is now called the Veincure™ Method. This method consists of specific tools, techniques, and sclerosing solution only available to physicians and nurses who practice at The Vein Doctor. Dr. Greenberg has found the Veincure™ Method to be the most effective process available today for eliminating veins, yielding the cleanest possible results. It is safe and may be performed on the legs, hands, and face.
